Privacy Policy

Effective Date: April 2025

Rank Labs operates the website at ranklabs.lt. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and your rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and applicable Lithuanian data protection law. By using this website, you acknowledge the practices described in this policy.

For any privacy-related questions or to exercise your rights, please use the contact form at ranklabs.lt.

What data we collect and why

Contact form submissions

When you complete the contact form on our website, we collect your full name, email address, website URL, estimated budget, selected SEO plan, and any message you choose to include. We use this information solely to respond to your enquiry and assess how we can help your business. We do not use this data for marketing purposes without your explicit consent.

Legal basis: Pre-contractual steps at your request and legitimate interest in responding to business enquiries (Article 6(1)(b) and 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, along with the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection. An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available at automattic.com/privacy. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Legal basis: Legitimate interest in operating a functional, spam-free comments system (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Media uploads

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website. We do not actively strip this metadata — responsibility for removing it lies with the uploader.

Website usage data

Our server automatically collects standard log data when you visit the site, including your IP address, browser type, referring page, and pages visited. This is used solely to maintain site security and diagnose technical issues.

Legal basis: Legitimate interest in maintaining website security and performance (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Cookies

This website uses cookies for the following specific purposes:

  • Comment convenience cookies: If you leave a comment and opt in, we store your name, email address, and website URL in cookies lasting one year, so you do not need to re-enter your details when leaving another comment.
  • Session cookies: When you visit the login page, we set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
  • Authentication cookies: When you log in, we set cookies to save your login information and screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days; screen options cookies last for one year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login persists for two weeks. Logging out removes all login cookies.
  • Editor cookies: If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie is saved in your browser indicating the post ID of the article you edited. It contains no personal data and expires after one day.

We do not use advertising or profiling cookies. We do not use third-party analytics services that set persistent tracking cookies without your consent.

Caching

This site uses caching to facilitate a faster response time and better user experience. Caching may store a duplicate copy of every web page displayed on this site. All cache files are temporary and are never accessed by any third party, except as necessary to obtain technical support from the cache plugin vendor. Cache files expire on a schedule set by the site administrator and may be purged at any time. We may use QUIC.cloud services to process and cache your data temporarily. For details, see the QUIC.cloud Privacy Policy.

Spam protection — Akismet

This site uses the Akismet Anti-Spam service to protect the comments section. Akismet collects information about visitors who comment, including the commenter’s IP address, user agent, referrer, and site URL, along with the information provided directly in the comment form such as name, email address, and the comment content itself. This data is processed by Automattic, Inc. solely for spam detection purposes. For details, see the Automattic Privacy Policy.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content such as videos, images, or articles from other websites. Embedded content behaves in the exact same way as if you had visited the external website directly. Those websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content — including if you have an account with that service and are logged in.

Who we share your data with

Rank Labs does not sell, rent, or trade personal data. We share data only where strictly necessary:

  • Gravatar (Automattic): An anonymised email hash is shared to check profile picture availability when you leave a comment.
  • Akismet (Automattic): Comment data is processed for spam detection as described above.
  • QUIC.cloud: Site caching may temporarily involve QUIC.cloud processing your request data.
  • Password reset: If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.
  • Legal obligation: We may disclose data if required by Lithuanian law, a court order, or a regulatory authority.

How long we retain your data

We retain personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes for which it was collected:

  • Contact form submissions: Retained for up to 3 years to manage the client relationship and any resulting engagement, then securely deleted.
  • Comment data: Comments and their metadata are retained indefinitely so we can recognise and approve follow-up comments automatically. You may request deletion at any time.
  • Server logs: Retained for up to 90 days for security monitoring, then deleted.
  • User account data: If you register on the website, your profile information is retained until you request deletion. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time, except they cannot change their username. Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
  • Cache files: Temporary by nature and purged on a schedule set by the site administrator.

Your rights under GDPR

If you have an account on this site or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

More broadly, as a data subject under EU and Lithuanian law, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, and port your data; the right to object to or restrict certain processing; and the right to withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent. To exercise any of these rights, please contact us via the contact form at ranklabs.lt. We will respond within 30 days.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the State Data Protection Inspectorate of Lithuania at vdai.lrv.lt.

Where your data is sent

Our website is hosted within the EU. Some third-party services we use — including Automattic (Gravatar and Akismet) and QUIC.cloud — may process data outside the EU. Where this occurs, processing is carried out under Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent safeguards approved under GDPR Chapter V. Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

Data security

ranklabs.lt enforces HTTPS across all pages. We apply technical and organisational measures appropriate to the risk, including access controls and minimal data collection. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure — if you have a specific concern, please reach out via the contact form.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our services or applicable law. The effective date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent revision. Material changes will be communicated via a notice on the website.
